This Is Just Way Too Cool

Did someone in your family tree ship out from an English port after 1890? If so, they're probably among the 30-million passengers whose names have now been organized into a searchable database at: www.ancestorsonboard.com.

The website, created in collaboration with Britain's National Archives, records 1.5-million documents up to 1960. It enables searches by surname alone. A word of caution - good luck getting onto the website anytime soon. It seems to be swamped at the moment. Maybe next week?
