Musharraf to Open Pakistan's Border to Hunt Taliban?

Asia Times reports that Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has quietly agreed to allow the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan to begin attacking Taliban and al-Qaeda forces within Pakistan. The news service says Musharraf will be making a major announcement on extremism in the next day or two.

"The [Asia Times online] contacts in Islamabad say that coalition intelligence has pinpointed at least four centers in the tribal areas of North Waziristan and South Waziristan on the border with Afghanistan from which Taliban operations inside Afghanistan are run. These bases include arms caches and the transfer and raising of money and manpower, the latter in the form of foot-soldiers to fight with the Taliban-led insurgency.

"Operations inside Pakistan might be carried out independently by the United States, probably with air power, by Pakistani forces acting alone or as joint offensives. In all cases, though, the US will pull the strings, for instance by providing the Pakistanis with information on targets to hit.

"Musharraf has apparently already told his military commanders, the National Security Council and decision-makers in government of the development."

Oh, Goody. Now we can step RIGHT into it. Whose idea was this one, Steve's? Nothing like expanding a war beyond the borders of one country into another........wait! Where have I heard that before???????? Oh yeh wasn't that into Viet Ghanistan?... no, Viet Bodia?....no, Viet raq?........
type into google 'war in viet nam spills into laos/cambodia' and come to understand how the USA continues to fight the same battles ove and over again every generation.....(hint/answer - the only history Americans ever bother learning about comes from GI Joe comic books).
Well now, I wonder how all our Pakistan neighbors in suburban Canada are gonna feel about this one.
