Harper's Stimulus Hammer

Undaunted by the loss of a mere 129,000 Canadian jobs in January, Furious Leader Stevie Harper has announced his government will issue each newly liberated ex-employee a lovely hammer. That way they can all find someone who hasn't yet lost his/her job yet and see if they can get work nailing a deck on his/her cottage.

Before you know it, everybody who still has a job will have a dandy new deck or rec room and all those idle unwashed will be hammering their way straight into the heart of free enterprise.

Harp said he welcomed the news of January's massive unemployment because it guaranteed a steady supply of cheap labour for homeowners. Yippee!

Best of all, said Stiffie Steve, the unemployment numbers south of the border were even worse. The Americans lost 598,000 jobs contrasted with only 129,000 up here. Steve urges Canadians not to trouble their delicate minds comparing America's population to Canada. There's no good to be had in realizing that, on a per capita basis, our job losses are far more than double the American losses.

Steve took a moment to pat himself on the back for his mega-deficit budget which his government expects to "create or maintain 190,000 jobs" which number we'll probably exceed in about a week from now.
