Just Think of the Optics - Think As a Muslim

Oh great, a bunch of white guys gearing up to bomb the hell out of a bunch of Muslims again.  Christians versus Muslims.  Europeans versus Arabs or Persians.   Foreigners from distant lands versus the Home Team.

Christ, does anybody ever think of the optics?   If the shoe was on the other foot, what would you think?   If the Arabs had all the guns and all the bombers and could rain mayhem down on us at will - and did, again and again - what would you think?   Do you think after two or three rounds of this you might figure they were out to get us?  And what if it was those same Arabs who had, for decades, been propping up brutal despots in our countries?

Mound, I agree with you but what can we do? Just watch this new saga of regime change. Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and now Syria. Maybe Iran next?

Where all this is going to lead us? Public is fully brainwashed that this the right thing to do. Word 'sad' cannot describe the current situation.

I should add that this has been going on for the last 600 years. First colonization and now installing puppet governments thus it is not much different than colonization.

How many innocent civilians America has killed in Iraq alone?

George Carlin had some interesting thoughts on this topic a couple of decades ago.

Fully brainwashed . . . Dunno. Oddly enough, apparently even the American public isn't really into this latest one.

I did my undergrad in the States during the closing years of the Americans' war in Viet Nam. They have a hard time with protracted wars that they're supposed to win but don't.

The Americans suffered a big setback when they won Desert Storm. It made them feel invincible, convinced them that they could now win wars quickly and without sacrifice.

Afghanistan and Iraq have tempered their enthusiasm for wars of choice. They've again realized that all the King's horses and all the King's men don't guarantee anything remotely resembling victory.
