Clapper's Bold Warning - American Democracy "Under Assault"
Former National Intelligence director, James Clapper, warns American democracy is under assault from without and from within, from Russia and from its own president, Donald Trump.
"I think, in many ways, our institutions are under assault, both externally -- and that's the big news here, is the Russian interference in our election system," said James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence. "I think as well our institutions are under assault internally."
When he was asked, "Internally, from the president?" Clapper said, "Exactly."
Clapper spoke following Trump's sudden firing of Comey last week, which drew sharp criticism because it came amid the FBI's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election. Clapper said America's founding fathers had created three co-equal branches of government with checks and balances, but with Trump as president, that was now "eroding."

.. what's always been evident about Trump is the irony.. everything out of his snout, badmouthing others, is exactly what he does and is all about. Calling Comey a showboat is a simple example. He wraps any threat in his own image & reality. He offloads his deceits as other peoples behavior.
But one of the key things that will come about, no matter what is proven about him personally.. is the extent that astonishing levels of financial fraud are enabled and hidden by international banks & private enterprise via money laundering and shuttling funds endlessly through myriad processes. That Manafort, among many other Trump & GOP political associates will likely be prosecuted should shame Trump and senior GOP members. If both of those find themselves dragged down and/or prosecuted publically, well.. that's just 'natural consequences' taking place as usual.
Unfortunately, the old double standards of law do apply for these greasy thugs. Vast armadas of lawyers, paid for by taxpayers will obstruct, object, spin.. and there are plenty of immunities, dodges & witness intimidation to play with to baffle prosecuters and the public. And let's not forget who owns mainstream media to emit copious fact blurring and smokescreens. We've already seen what cringeworthy duplicity Paul Ryan, Hannity, McConnell, Ivanka, Spicer etc etc et al will spew with the cooperation and complicity of mainstream media
