The way forward is speaking out, even if only among family and friends. I am advantaged in this. I was a broadcast journalist for some years before I turned barrister. Most of my working life has been debating and advocating. Yet, when we believe in something, we can overcome any shortcomings in experience. Tell people what you believe. Be prepared to explain your beliefs and defend them. We truly can do this. The Mound of Soundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09023839743772372922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32931256.post-67314245730618896092011-12-29T16:20:59.560-08:002011-12-29T16:20:59.560-08:00I vote, but what's the point? Now the party I ...I vote, but what's the point? Now the party I vote for doesn't even get a small amount of money from that. I'm in a riding where the cons win by an overwhelming majority. My vote will not matter here. Our system needs to be fixed so that we end up with a government that actually represents the people. Unfortunately politicians only seem interested in fixing the system when it isn't electing them. Once they get in they change their minds. I think May has been a strong voice for electoral reform, but against a majority no one is going to listen. What can be done when voting has no impact? Petitions have no impact. It seems so far civil disobedience, at least here in Canada doesn't have much effect. In the US they may have gotten Obama to put off KXL, however I think he was just waiting to approve it after re-election. I'm not sure what's going to happen to it now.

Anyways, Happy New Year and thanks for the good reading.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32931256.post-45450905257667428122011-12-29T16:06:38.570-08:002011-12-29T16:06:38.570-08:00Hi Kev.
