But when you tell people ranked ballots are worse than FPTP they'll just look at you like you're a crazy zealot.

Fact is if we had preferential ranked ballots in 2011 and 2015, we would've gotten Liberal/NDP two-party majority governments. Far better than a Harper dictatorship. Far better than a Junior dictatorship and all the imaginary progressive goodies that come with.

Dippers would do better under ranked ballots than low threshold PR. All that would do is fill the House with a bunch of Green and Bloc MPs no one voted for. Radical parties that over leverage their meager power and build up a rep of being toxic to work with.

I prefer Stephane Dion's 3-member STV semi-proportional. A good first step. Gives everybody something. All MPs are directly elected. I get it. I'm pretty sure most do. That said, I actually see merit in the preferential or transferable ballot option. I get hung up on the problem of active legislators getting appointed to rule over me. The only time he spent in Alberta on the campaign trail was while on a plane flying over the province.

Alberta is a wasteland. Are you saying that the party is neutral on what Caplan calls "extreme climate change"? Maybe "both" would be more accurate. There's the Leap side and the less adventurous group that doesn't want to alienate Notley, soon to be the party's sole provincial premier. The Mound of Soundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09023839743772372922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32931256.post-51880872849973501442016-04-12T09:53:24.197-07:002016-04-12T09:53:24.197-07:00As a former New Democract I'd say nether.
