Out here on...Anon, I'm with you on the Greens. Out here on the shores of the Salish Sea, May is revered. Even the centre-right Victoria Times-Colonist sings her praises.

The more the reality and scope of climate change sets in with me, the harder it is to envision any nation, even Canada, getting through this century without significant transformations - political, economic and social.

We've lost the deal and now we have to play the cards dealt to us by nature. We can play that hand intelligently or we can play it stupidly but that won't change the cards, only the outcome.

One way or another we will transition from a growth-based global economy to the only alternative, an allocation-based economy which is inevitable when you reach finite limits.

Allocation can take a few forms but in cohesive societies it comes down to some variety of rationing. People tend to expect a good deal more equality when they're expected to sacrifice than when they're expecting growth. That, I suspect, will be the instigator of transformation. The Mound of Soundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09023839743772372922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32931256.post-77866831576157749962012-07-03T22:55:59.666-07:002012-07-03T22:55:59.666-07:00Sorry I should add, I don't mean to personally...Sorry I should add, I don't mean to personally attack. I was speaking more of a general attitude to the GPC. The first past the post system doesn't help, but the Greens are the only party equipped to care for our environment, economy, and democracy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32931256.post-22684671876450425062012-07-03T21:54:23.331-07:002012-07-03T21:54:23.331-07:00Of course it's not just climate that's at ...Of course it's not just climate that's at risk. Of course democracy is. But unless something is done soon to get democracy on track, so that the governments will address climate, then democracy won't be such a big deal will it?

You ask what party will do these things. The only answer is the Green Party. But they can't win. Not now. You're proof of that, you won't give them the time of day, even though they are exactly what you are asking for. It's for that reason they can't win, and we are doomed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32931256.post-13010557198071315332012-07-03T13:10:04.859-07:002012-07-03T13:10:04.859-07:00http://mindprod.com/money/moneycreation.html
