Al Qaeda is plotting a "terror spectacular" for the US this summer. ABC News reports that a secret law enforcement assessment, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, eerily resembles some of the intelligence that preceded the 9/11 attacks.
In a graphic display of how inept terrorism intelligence is even today, US officials received word two weeks ago of a possible terrorist attack in Glasgow against "airport infrastructure and aircraft." Apparently the warning wasn't passed along to officials in Scotland. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said that virtually everthing his department gleans is sent instantly to counterparts in the UK. Apparently not, Mike.
