Porsche has served notice that it's not going to tolerate the City of London's levy on gas-guzzling cars driving in the city centre. The City recently introduced a 25-pound daily tax for cars driven in the city. The tax applies to cars that produce more than 225 grams of CO2 per kilometre.
Porsche claims that deterring car traffic in London won't cut greenhouse gas emissions and, worse, it will deter businesses from the urban core.
The carmaker says it will send a letter to Lord Mayor Livingstone asking that the tax be repealed and, if he refuses, will take its case to court on an application for judicial review.

Whooee! I don't reckon Mayor Livingstone an' the Brits is gonna listen too hard to that Stuttgart outfit. You pollute, you pay. They all scoffed at the first stage of the thing when they started chargin' every car 5 GBP fer comin' inside the centre core. That plan's been workin' not bad from what I hear tell.
ReplyDeletePorsche should save the dough it's gonna spend on bigass lawyers and invest in engineerin' a cleaner car.
Pollution is literally stoopid, too. I just seen a study sez dirty air cuts down on the kiddies IQ.

Them Porsche guys've maybe been breathin' too many fumes.

The BBC interviewd Mayor Livingstone and he had a list of all the cars that Porsche makes. Out of a long list only one vehicle had pollution controls. You have to remember Porsche made vehicles for the Natizs. Porsche would love a fight with the Brit establishment again. If they continue, they will lose this one as well. Cheers
