My father and mother, shortly before Dad shipped out to England. He suffered massive wounds in the war that nearly claimed him many times in the decades that followed. A man of great strength and enormous goodwill, who accomplished much and helped so many, now lost to us at age 90.
Sorry for your loss. Being a RCL member I will raise a pint this evening for your father and yourself. billg
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your loss. Lost in body, but not in the heart.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is with you and your family.
johnathon,
ReplyDeleteYOU are a total ass-wipe! Take your foul mouth & thoughts somewhere else - like to Con blogs only. Jerk.
I'm so sorry for your loss RBTE. I lost my Dad 2 1/2 yrs. ago & he, too, was in WW11. And was held a POW for 4 yrs. by the Germans.
My heart goes out to you & yours.
What a beautiful couple they looked like. God rest his soul. I will keep him in my prayer intentions.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteHaving read so many of your posts, I know how close you were and how he informed your current views.

Condolences MOS. Sounds like he lived a great life, well lived.
ReplyDeleteHope you spend a few days remembering the good stuff.
Your father was a person you could never be.
ReplyDeleteLet that thought rim around your squash all day long.
You do realize Johnathon that in one small comment you've defined who and what you are, and, what exactly is in your head and heart? You comment alot on the Toryblogs, so, I'll be sure to forward your comment to others and trust me, they'll feel the same way I do, which is disgust and, a little sympathy for any illness you have.
ReplyDeleteSorry Mound, but, I read him alot on other blogs and he really is just a waste of good skin. billg
My condolences Mound.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your kind thoughts. He really was a great guy and he had a terrific life.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about Johnathon. It's his substance problem that has rendered him unhinged. I removed the most vicious of his comments in any case.
MoS, my sincere condolences for your loss.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute to your father. Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences to you and your family.
Johnathon [a.k.a Fred Bracken] please seek medical help.
ReplyDeleteMound of Sound, I'm sorry for your loss. Truly your father was a member of the generation of heroes in Canada.
Your father lived a long (and by your account) good life. Remember that anytime you miss him.
