Who in his right f..@king mind would let an 8-year old blast away with an Uzi? Well how about a "certified firearms instructor" in attendance at yesterday's Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsman's Club in Westfield, Mass.
The 8-year old - as in eight years old - kid was handed a loaded, submachine gun to blaze away downrange. Blame Sir Isaac Newton and his damned Third Law, the one about "equal and opposite reaction." When you fire a handgun, it kicks back and up. When you fire a handheld submachine gun, it wants to keep kicking back and further up and up.
That's what happened. The youngster didn't or couldn't let go of the trigger and the weapon kept recoiling upward until a bullet found the child's head.

Guns don't kill people, the NRA and their fucking apologists kill people. What a tragic story.
ReplyDeleteIt would be tempting to make a comment about evolution here, but the story is just too tragic for that. No child deserves the punishment of being raised with such dismally stupid caregivers.
ReplyDeleteLink MoS?
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't disbelieve you, it is in my skeptical nature to check everything.
In the event I get more details, I'll make a more detailed statement about this.
For now, I posit this:
The person who allowed an untrained person of any age, let alone a child, handle such a weapon in such a cavalier way should have all his assets liquidated and the proceeds given to the family of the child (and nothing more since I suspect there was at least on negligent parent involved).
That way, regardless of any gun laws or lack of gun laws in the future, people who act negligently will be severely punished and act as a deterrent to to those who would consider this in the future.
I think we can agree on this no matter which side of the gun control debate we may be on.
Mike. Here's one link but you can find the story throughout the MSM

Oh my God! I too am tempted to belittle the parents or any other adults who may have been responsible for this, but frankly, I imagine that person will have to live with the image of that dead child for the rest of his or her life.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for teaching kids about firearms. I think it's the best way to ensure that they don't get curious and have an accident. But for crying out loud people, a weapon that powerful has no place in an eight year old's hands!!!
If a parent can put that type of gun in the hands of an eight year old, why would you think the parent will suffer their loss. A HARD thing to say but the whole mess is HARD. A. Morris
