Okay, this is one of those posts where I came up with the title and then tried to come up with something, some argument to support the premise.
Forget it. I've tried and tried and I can't think of one reason Bush should pardon Lord Black of Crossharbour or even commute his sentence.
That said, you might be a bigger, brighter soul than I. Any takers? Do you think Connie ought to be sprung from the Greybar Hotel? Why?
I'm curious. Is he still officially a Lord?
ReplyDeleteI'm not ver well schooled in English law, but it seems to me that a criminal conviction (even an American conviction) is considered ignoble. Does that not mean he can no-longer be a member of the house of Lords?
Does anyone else out there know?
No, the Brits won't get rid of him that easily. A peerage is for life unless they can nab you for high treason and summon the headsman or they catch you sodomizing the Archbishop (and that's almost always consensual anyway).
ReplyDeleteIn fact Lord Connie of Piddlepuddle has already announced that he'll champion prison reform just as soon as he's restored to his rightful place among his fellow lords.
