What's With Kinsella?

I'm always leery of people who seem to like litigation a little too much. Especially when it comes to serial defamation lawsuits it usually turns out that the aggrieved plaintiff comes across as taking their reputation a lot more seriously than others might.

Warren Kinsella is back at it again, suing over his hurt feelings. This time he's targeting the Conservative party and Public Works Minister Christian Paradis.

Mr. Kinsella figures he deserves a million dollars because of a press release that called him "unsavoury, dishonest and that Michael Ignatieff and the Liberal party of Canada" should sever ties with him.

Oh well.

  1. A person's reputation is completely formed by other people's perceptions. How many people can a person sue to protect his reputation before we get a clear indication of the quality of that reputation.

  2. Well, when you are a target, and have access to the courts, litigation can make sense. Kinsella has been the target of diverse groups, and does have a public profile to be worried about. Besides, it's not as if the Conservatives aren't afraid to tort for libel when it suits them.

  4. Mark, do you really believe litigation is going to do anything for Kinsella's reputation? If so, just who do you believe will think better of him for it?

And CWTF, don't sugar coat it, eh?

  5. Mmm, sugar coated shit with sprinkles on top.

I remember watching a Newhart episode when Dick Louden ask a 100 year old man what he did for a living. Man replied that he was a suer. Dick asked if the man worked in sewers. No, the centenarian sued people for a living.

That's the gist of it - right?
Here is a man who intimidates and bullies, going around the internet insulting with seemingly glee yet gets all insulted at some rather benign comments.
