Mr. Chalk River Wants Nuclear Trade With India?

Sneaky Steve is in New Delhi hoping to persuade Indian officials to buy Canadian nuclear technology.

The guy who sat by as our own Chalk River reactor fell into ruin seems to think that India, not Canada, urgently needs nuclear technology. No matter how you look at it, the man is a sphincter.

Is that not nuclear proliferation? It is soooo bad when it comes to Iran and the guy left UN pretending that he wanted to avoid Ahmadinejad of Iran. Now he is offering India nuclear technology on a platter. How does the neighbouring Pakistan feel because Indians might use their “nuclear waste” over that country, as they would like to wipe it out from the face of the earth.

LeDaro...Canada has been doing this all along. We gave South Korea nuclear Technology in 1999.

There's some concern that it may be just that LD, nuclear proliferation - if not expressly intended then by misuse of technology transfer. The more international technology suppliers the harder it may be to police how it's used. Who knows?

Jingles, that is exactly what I am saying. It is sooo bad if North Korea has nuclear capability but give nuclear technology to South Korea. International hypocrisy. No wonder we have no peace.

MoS, these countries have a history to abuse nuclear technology whether it is India or Pakistan. It will indeed make Pakistan very suspicious and bad relations with Canada may be the result.

It's curious that trade with India comes down to nuclear technology. The deal India just struck with Washington was also focused on nuclear technology.

Is that all the West has that's of interest to them (other than weaponry of course)? Even if it means the sale of a couple of big ticket reactors that's hardly the basis for sustainable trade.
