Our "Global Suicide Pact"

Kofi Annan had a certain 'Morgan Freeman' charisma that endeared us to the man.  Unfortunately his successor, Ban Ki-moon hasn't really caught our attention the same way.   That's 'unfortunate' because Ban has been making some pretty candid statements, warnings if you will, that seem to be going unheeded.

With all the turmoil spreading through the Middle East it's understandable that Ban didn't get much attention for his remarks last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.  Ban didn't pull any punches.   He told the wealthy, powerful and influential in attendance that the world's current economic model is nothing short of a "global suicide pact" that will end in disaster without prompt and radical reform.

Not surprisingly, it seems a number of the prominent voices at Davos didn't get it.  They still see a future anchored in continual growth, greened up as "sustainable growth."   These are people who would trust the future of our grandchildren to alchemy.
