Happy Birthday to Me

How in hell I reached 64 is beyond me.  That said, I indeed exceeded 63 - and 53 and 43 and even 33.   How - beyond a good deal of luck - I'm not remotely sure.  I have witnessed a lot of pretty good men die.

Anyway, up yours, it's MY  64th.  And, on this joyous yet solemn occasion, here's a party song.

How did I spend my afternoon?  I rode a 10 km. stretch of the island hwy looking for trouble.  Nothing seen.  And so I set my hair on fire - 130 mph.   There's an enormous serenity that comes with that, not that I expect you to believe it.  One mistake, no matter how slight, and it's over but it doesn't matter.   It really doesn't matter.

  4. Mound, happy birthday.

You're not senior citizens yet. 65 years old are seniors. So you're still young.

  8. I've been reading your blog for several years as I agree with all you talk about.

Isn't it funny we have the same birthday!!!!! but I am still 7 years younger but feel the same as you wrote recently that riding a bedpan the last ten years of my life has no appeal. All my retired buddies at Timmys agree as well.

  10. Happy Birthday MoS.

Sounds like you were teasing the fates with your b-day adventure. Nothing like pumping adrenalin to make you feel young again.

  11. Yes, I don't do it often. Once a year maybe and only on one particular stretch of quite open highway where there are no side streets, no buildings of any sort, just highway and forest. I always ride that road first to make sure it's sound and I wait until there's nothing ahead for a mile or better. No one to overtake, no one to imperil and, if something does go awry, well, it's off in to the trees.
