Fighting Back Against Jellyfish

If you're a drylander you might not consider jellyfish a problem.  Unfortunately they're a huge and growing problem.  Overfishing has led to massive increases in jellyfish populations.  Infestations of some, like the common Portuguese Man-of-War or box jellyfish, can wound swimmers and lead to the closure of resort beaches.

Jellyfish have also been responsible for blocking water cooling intakes, forcing the shutdown of nuclear reactors in the U.S., Scotland, Israel, India and Japan.   Now the Japanese are fighting back with open-water robots that can hunt down jellyfish blooms and turn them to pulp

Here's a formation of three JEROS shredder robots pursuing a swarm of jellyfish.
