BP Paints a Dark Future For Our Kids and Grandkids

Some, like James Hansen, say we've probably already left it too late.  The slightly timid assessment of the IPCC says greenhouse gas emissions must peak no later than 2020, just six years from now, and thereafter decline rapidly if we're to avoid catastrophic or runaway climate change.

British Petroleum, BP, says even the IPCC is dreaming.  It ain't gonna happen.  The energy giant's Outlook 2035 foresees a 29% increase in CO2 emissions over the next two decades.

BP's dismal forecast is in keeping with the Harper government's report to the United Nations  in mid-January predicting that Canadian emissions, far from being cut as the government tells us, will actually soar 38% by 2030.

  1. How wonderful that BP likes espousing great scientific views such as this.....? Then there are those such as Harper, who will lap it up as the gospel truth, an unquestionable truth. What a drag! Anyong

  2. I don't know that BP is espousing anything scientific, Anyong. The company, like our own Harper, is just reporting that we're going to be devouring fossil fuels when we most need to wean ourselves from them.
