"Get Out of Ukraine." "Get Back in Your Closet, Tubby." |
His supposedly blunt message to Vladimir Putin reveals how Steve Harper really knows how to work a room when there's an election in the offing.
Walking up to Putin at the G20 summit, Harper's aides claim he said this: "Well I guess I'll share your hand but I only have one thing to say to you: you need to get out of Ukraine."
Missing, naturally, was the "or else" part because for Harper, with his defunded military in decline, there is no "or else." Talk, however, is cheap except as it relates to vote-getting, in this case the Ukrainian-Canadian vote. Then it's priceless.
Oddly enough, all the pictures of this supposed showdown encounter reveal Harper positively beaming at the little Russkie he knows could care less about dire warnings from Canada's clown prince.
Do you think that Ukrainian-Canadians buy Harper's nonsense?
ReplyDeleteSomehow, I don't think Putin's encounters with Harper leave him sweating.
ReplyDeleteWhat I read was? Harper called Russia and Putin evil Communists. Then Harper sold Canada to Communist China, as of Oct 1/2014. Now Communist China is financing Putin. Harper still sells arms to Russia.
ReplyDeleteI would say? Russia and Communist China, are laughing all the way to the bank. No doubt China and Russia, will very nicely share the High Arctic.
I'm sure that once he felt the iron-grip of Dear Leader, Mound, Putin immediately regretted his adventurism in Ukraine.
ReplyDelete@ Toby, sadly I do. The Ukrainian diaspora has always been anti-Russian and for good reason. Harper exploits that long-standing dislike by hyping up Putin's seizure of the Crimea. I think Harper strikes a chord with them, especially in western Canada where they tend to be concentrated.
ReplyDeleteOwen, I think it's a given that Harper is relatively insignificant to Putin. Harper makes endless noise about the Arctic while Putin actually reactivates Arctic bases and establishes a considerable military presence there. I'm sure Putin has taken the measure of Harper and actually likes what he sees, a harmless windbag.
ReplyDelete@ Lorne. Putin, like Harper, knows how to play to the crowd at home. Unlike Harper, Putin knows how to take the measure of his adversaries. In terms of Russia's Arctic seabed claims, Canada is Russia's main rival. I suspect Putin is grateful all he has to worry about is Canada's current leader.
ReplyDelete.. waiting to see a photo showing Jason MacDonald, Harper's personal PMO windbag leaning close enough to hear what smiley Harper or Putin had to say..
ReplyDeleteMainstream Media now report what that invisible PMO spokeswank says was spoken.. ie the Hysterical (noise) has become History (news).. Hey Presto.. Jason MacDonald says the world is flat.. cuz Stephen Harper said so ... to Putin
Meanwhiles.. we are waiting two weeks later to hear results from a coroner's examination of the shot to doll rags Ottawa gunman.. Each of his many many bullet wounds being matched to gun that fired it. Hopefully the hallway security footage of the attack not erased like Government (oops) Party database logs and will aid in this secret pathology
The RCMP has completed a startling probe of the psyche of the same gunman, revealing his intentions to behead folks. However RCMP seems reluctant to say how many empty shells were fired & ejected from his gun after murdering Cpl Cirillo, whether he carried any extra ammo on his person, reloaded while running or driving.. was asked to surrender while trapped.. ie was the Library door locked as were all other doors?
Its amazing how a flack like Jason MacDonald can breathlessly invent & dispense history to news agencies.. Harper slams Putin.. yet we can't get basic fact from the same Harper mouthpiece, the government or the Mounties regarding a very public homicide and subsequent attack in the Parliament Buildings
It may have been due to the Bantam Chick Hawk’s posturing on the Ukraine situation that Wayne Gretzky has declared him to be “one of the greatest prime ministers ever”:

Regarding the encounter with Putin, I note that the narrative being presented by newsreaders on the local independent TV broadcast is nearly a word-for-word match for the description offered on CBCNN. Would I be accused of conspiracy theorizing if I were to mention the stench of another PMO press release being accepted by the media, just as are the endless videos of Harper and his wife either boarding or disembarking from the airplane, as “news”? Journalists, newsreaders, copy writers and producers in Canada should grow up and start conducting their business with some pride. They should ignore this egomaniac and leave the propagandizing to 24-Seven “exclusives”.
Putin must know about Harper hiding in a closet during the shooting crisis on Parliament hill. Harper thinks Canadians will think of him as being a tough leader on the world stage. Frankly I cringed. This hick literally does not have the capacity to see himself.
ReplyDeletePutin to Harper "Come out of the closet and say that"
ReplyDeleteSassy said, 'Putin to Harper "Come out of the closet and say that"'
ReplyDeleteI often think that the opposition Parties could sink Harper with a statement like that, repeated at every opportunity.
Just got in (muni elections) and your comments sort of lifted my spirits. Sassy, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe national debt.
ReplyDeleteKeep both eyes on the money.
The rest is a card trick.
Harper follows America like a lost puppy.
Putin apparently replied "It would be impossible for us to get out of Ukraine, as we are not there."
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard that.
