Abbott Survives, For Now. His Opposition Breathes Sigh of Relief.

For how much longer is unclear but Aussie prime minister, Tony Abbott, has survived his caucus' 'spill motion' that would have lead to a leadership runoff had he lost.  Abbott won by a comfortable margin of 61-39.

Australia's political pundits believe Abbott remains mortally wounded but has bought himself a little time.  The Age correspondent, Michael Gordon, contends that Abbott's tenure hangs by a thread.  One more cock up and that's it.
