Shifty Harper has done it again. Yeah! He begins the campaign day with an event at a Legion hall in New Brunswick and then shuts out military veterans who thought they'd like to attend. It was the No. 4 Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion in Fredericton, NB to be precise.
Why? Because they're military veterans who aren't entirely satisfied at how they've been treated. They got wind that Harper and Veterans Affairs minister
[Fabian] Henry rounded up some other veterans, most of whom served in Afghanistan, and headed to the event to "shake a hand or do something to talk about veterans affairs issues."
But when they arrived, some "guys in suits" said that was out of the question.
"We weren't even allowed in the building," Henry said. "We were standing outside thinking we were going to get in to at least listen to what was happening or voice any concerns. That didn't happen."
Instead the group went around the back of the building and watched Harper get off the bus, go inside for 15 minutes, then get back on the bus and leave without acknowledging their presence.
The Conservative party said in an email that Harper was talking to veterans inside of the building.
Classy, Steve. You're all class.
He wraps himself in the flag but it doesn't fit. It can't cover up the real man.
ReplyDeleteIs there anything more he could do to lose the veterans' vote?
ReplyDeleteHe not interested in the veterans vote Mound. He's only interested in his base. His behaviour
ReplyDeleteof excluding almost all Canadians except his base and now veterans has no equal in the history of our country. I still wonder if his invitation only is legal.
I'm hoping, Pamela, that Harper brought a few news crews along for this appearance. I'd love to see him sneak out through the back door straight past Afghan veterans whom he deliberately ignores. Precious.
