Hi, LD. Do you think we're becoming desensitized to this carnage? I suspect we're developing a tolerance for what once would have caused us to recoil. The steady exposure is leaving us calloused, hardened, crusted over.
Having entered adulthood in the late 60s I realize how far our societies have declined. I think that if, as we were then, we saw ourselves today we'd be shocked, troubled by what we've become whether socially, politically or environmentally. What makes this that much worse is that there doesn't seem to be any "reset" button. Blame it on evolution.
How to create a refugee....find an "enemy", drop a bomb and voila...refugee.
Maybe someone should come up with a formula to figure out how many refugees are created per bomb dropped. That way any country would know how many refugees they are taking in by inputting the numbers into said formula. If you're not prepared to look after your own creation then don't create it.
Mound, I sincerely hope that we have not gotten desensitized to the current horrible tormoil. At least general public is not. It is our so-called leaders who are the real problem.
How we deal with these leaders is not easy? I wish there is a major public uprising agaisnt these leaders and force them to change the current path.
I have a conspiracy theory that Isreal is behind the current carnage in the .Middle East.
Just as there are "your" and "you're", there is "their", "there" and "they're". Please use the appropriate one! No I'm not an English teacher. I'm an Ingineer, and until recently cud hardly spell the word. But the misuse of our language makes it difficult to easily understand your comment. Imagine the havoc I'd create if I misused e=mc2 in one of MY comments.
Mostly I feel helpless. I can give money, or volunteer with various agencies, and I can offer to share my home, but none of that stops the horror that is happening now. I would stand in front of tanks, but there is no standing in front of barrel bombs. Pictures like this break my heart, and yet I can only imagine how shocking and terrifying this must have been for the residents of the street. Oh. Guilty. I feel guilty too.
I would give my life if it would stop this. I don't want to live in a world like this anymore.
Karen, I do understand how you're feeling. There's so much going on in the world today that I just want it to somehow stop but, as a civilization, we've gone too far down this road only to find it's one-way and there's no turning back.
Mound, it is heartbreaking. We never learn from our past.

One can only imagine what happened to the people in the second picture Mound and as refugees, their still being victimized.
