How Many Times a Week Does Obama Have to Call for Gun Control?

Every time there's a mass shooting in the States, Barack Obama winds up on TV pleading for sanity, also known as "gun control." I suppose he carries the standard speech in his back pocket wherever he goes because once or twice a week he's bound to need it.

San Bernardino.  The latest tally: 14 dead, 17 others wounded.  Police are looking for between one and possibly three shooters, each armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles. One shooter - murderous crank perhaps. Three shooters - terrorists, domestic or otherwise.

We remember the Sandy Hook massacre because the killer slaughtered 20-young children, first graders. The adults he killed have long been forgotten. Also forgotten have been almost all of those killed since that awful Friday in December, 2012.

Today Obama said the pattern of US mass shooting has no parallel anywhere else in the world. What, did he forget Syria?

3,400:Americans who died by terrorism since 2001

3,400: Americans who died by household Firearms since 5 weeks ago.

An entire bureaucracy with extraordinary and almost unlimited power was created and funded with billions and billions of dollars as a result of one terrorist event.

Not one US government department or office has as it's job the prevention of ordinary firearms deaths. Plenty of departments for mopping up afterwards but none to prevent. Because prevention would entail the destruction of personal liberty.

So, in the USA, the cost of liberty is the deaths of tens of thousands of citizens at the hands of their fellow citizens. Just over 280,000 in the last decade according to one stat I saw today.

That the entire country can be held hostage by one lobby group tells you all you need about their system of governance.

  2. Mound, Obama is very concerned about his legacy. He knows gun control is a very controversial issue. Gun lobby says that people kill people and not guns.

Even a thorough background check for a buyer of gun will help. Now anyone who can buy candy can buy guns too. Obama's reaction is very disappointing.

  3. If people kill people why do people get sent to war with guns. Why not just send the people?

  4. Dana, the very people who are so-called pro-life are the same people who are pro-wars. I suppose getting grown-up killed is fine with them.
