Hillary Clinton now leads Donald Trump in the popular vote by
more than two million and they're still counting.
If Greg Palast is right, there are millions more that were disqualified by Republican skulduggery. In his mind there's no doubt, none, that this election was stolen.
Yep. Something really smells here - in the "Land of Liberty" and "The Heart of Democracy".
ReplyDeleteSteven Harper and some of his supporters would approve.
ReplyDelete"I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
ReplyDeleteI love the country but I can't stand the scene.
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight,
getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
that Time cannot decay,
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
this little wild bouquet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A."
It still does not make the default winner any more acceptable, admirable, honest, worldly, beneficial to society, less warlike , etc , etc.
ReplyDeleteTo suggest that there is a difference between death by ignorance or indifference ( Trump) or death by imperialism and aggression ( Clinton) is beyond comprehension!!!!!
Choose your poison.

Mound, there is hope.
ReplyDeleteJulian Assange said (before election) that Trump will not be permitted to win. There is still time...
A..non
the fund raising for the re counts went very well. Now we will see if there are recounts.
ReplyDeleteneither candidate may have been ideal, but 4 years of Clinton they may have survived. 4 years of Trump they may not. on the other hand, you get what you voted for, so you can't blame any one but yourself.
If any sort of a ball gets rolling on the machine ballot question in the Midwestern states the Repugs will dig in and use whatever mechanisms and propaganda they control to stop it. A thorough investigation might provide revelations that would bring the ’04 Ohio results into question again. The national disgrace that would be engendered should the Bush second term be determined to have been unquestionably illegitimate would toss shit into fans in every nation that had to deal with the putz. American credibility would be shot and its lectures to the world on freedom and democracy would be laughed at.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I’m a Canadian and who am I to talk: Michael Sona is out of jail and he still isn’t talking (enough); Ken Morgen remains unmolested residing in parts unknown; and we still don’t even know what happened in Saanich-Gulf Islands in 2008.
.. as always.. thanks.. Canadians need a beacon on the west coast..
ReplyDeleteI am tracking the recent election debacle of course.. if it effects environment, I can become remarkably hostile & vocal. The comment by John B resonates with me.. after all, if Canadians have no context, or measuring stick. how can we perceive election fraud elsewhere?
I aint no genius or medical marvel.. but I am looking more and more at how science or biology tries to defeat infection or blight etc. So for example, if Christy Clark, Jason Kenney, Brad Wall induce vomiting, shock, or mental despair at the damage they inflict.. well how do you protect yourself, loved ones, environment etc?
Here's where I am headed.. You must identify - recognize the problem. So for example, Jason Kenney is not Joan of Arc of Alberta. He has a 'camp' - a baggage train of fervent volunteers and paid followers. After that roiling infestation, come the 'supporters' he plays to with the help of his 'camp' (gotta love how mainstream media describes political vermin)
Do you remember when the 'Moral Majority' was identified as 'older white women from the south' ? - Hell, I do.. ! And that simple accurate demographic description popped the balloon of intimidation & misperception for an entire generation.
So I am looking for the similar antidote - kind of a Banting & Best needle that squashes Political Animals, Ugly Canadians, yellow journalists, Rabid Pundits, Political Hacks, Captured Public Servants, Shills, Corrupt Experts, Sellouts.. and posers who think wrapping themselves in the Maple Leaf & flag can f_ck this country over with impunity.
Liberals taking democracy hard! I will guide you through the process:
ReplyDelete1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Grow the fuck up
the bush-gore debacle piqued my curiosity regarding methods of election manipulation of all kinds, and for years i followed developments closely though in recent years have lost hope. suffice to say those early dubya years were the halcyon days of election rigging r&d: varities of suppression tactics, gerrymandering, e-voting, counting procedures that leave large groups of votes uncounted, etc. were all honed during those days.
ReplyDeletethroughout the latest campaign i've said as long as the polls have trump within approximately 5% he's likely to win as that is (what i figure) the built-in advantage the republicans now have.
if the current recount drive actually results in a real investigation i don't see it ending well. the dems missed their opportunity after obama's first win when they could have exposed election tampering without looking like sore losers. instead, they chose not to rock the boat, yet again.
going along to get along is the worst sort of strategy against the sort of implacable, incremental opponent that the right consists of.
Apparently, Ralph Nader told the Washington Post that Trump will be the fastest impeachment and conviction in history. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteI have no illusions that Clinton, no matter the vote, would become president. What is important is that the numbers be counted, all of them including the votes disallowed. Let the American people, especially young Americans, see how even their elections are gamed. Let them see how they've been rendered powerless to electoral manipulation. Help them see that there's only one fix for this. Gore's 544,000 vote lead over Bush was bad enough. Nullifying a two to four million vote lead goes straight to the heart of the legitimacy of a Trump presidency. The discontent that can grow and catch fire from that is what America might need most at this point.
