One characteristic of Donald Trump that repeatedly calls his mental health into question is his chronic lying. He seems utterly incapable of distinguishing reality from fantasy.
Trump's greatest lie is to accuse the media of "fake news." The liar doesn't like what the media honestly reports about him and so he accuses them of fakery, dishonesty, except, of course, for Fox and Friends and they're just the best.
Unfortunately this derangement is worsening. Now the Great Orange Bloat has taken to smearing America's media as the "enemy of the American people." He did this at an hour and seventeen minute press conference that can only be described as "lie studded."
So now America's Liar-in-Chief lies about others lying - about him, of course.
So freely and compulsively does president Trump lie that Arizona senator, John McCain, has dropped the gloves. The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee told NATO representatives to the Munich security conference on Friday that Trump has a "growing inability, and even unwillingness, to separate truth from lies."
Now McCain has responded to Trump's denunciation of America's media as "the enemy of the American people."
Such talk, McCain (R-Ariz.) said on NBC News in an interview set to air Sunday, was “how dictators get started.”
“In other words, a consolidation of power,” McCain told “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd from Munich. “When you look at history, the first thing that dictators do is shut down the press. And I'm not saying that President Trump is trying to be a dictator. I'm just saying we need to learn the lessons of history.”
Um, no senator, I think that's exactly what you're saying. And you're right.
Sadly, the Trump derangement syndrome/self-delusion exists here. Foolishly, I just read too many of the comments at the end of this article. So much hate and ignorance from so many hateful fellow citizens. Somedays I wish I could just live off grid. And I'm an OPTIMIST!

'Trump's greatest lie is to accuse the media of "fake news."'
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHA
Trump seems cool like a cucumber to me. All the hysteria and derangement clamoring about - it ain't coming from him.
LOLOLOLOL
@ Anon 9:07 - He's got a grade 4 level vocabulary. He speaks at a grade 4 level. You write at a grade 4 level. I understand what you see in him. HAHAHAHAHA.
ReplyDeleteMcCain's all talk. When it comes to actually voting against Trump, forget it. Remember, this is the guy who thought Sarah "Mooselini" Palin would make a fine VP.

You must think at a grade 4 level if you don't get what I'm saying. All the hysteria and tumult is coming from the fake left.
ReplyDeleteYou idiots can fools yourselves with your absurd rhetoric. But you're not fooling anyone else. Otherwise it wouldn't be Mr. President Donald J. Trump to you.
Nice try, Anon. Now it's past your bedtime. Don't hurry back. And, by the way, it's not "president" Trump to me. Not even close.
ReplyDeleteTrump does appear to be off of his meds at the moment. Perhaps they thought he might be better if they let him off his leash for a few days before they put him back in his cage.
ReplyDeleteAccusing the media of being fake and liars, etc. is simply bad manners. There isn't any evidence that what the outlets he is so upset about have said is incorrect. Apparently Trump hasn't read his Constitution about freedom of speech. Its the first amendment. the founding fathers most likely thought it was even more important than carrying guns.
of course if Trump can get the media to back off, he is off to the races in securing his position for life. He reminds me of those people who got elected and then turned their countries into dictatorships, oh, like Russia and Turkey and Egypt appear to be on their way............
my personal conclusion, trump is bad shit crazy. Lets hope he either goes to a hospital or resigns. Either way, I'm starting to think Pence is a really good option.......never thought I'd be writing that.

ReplyDeleteSome sad comments, Mound.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Anon. You've outstayed your welcome and, since you've nothing cogent to add, you're gone.
ReplyDelete@ eaf - I know what you're saying when it comes to Pence. I wish I didn't.
ReplyDeleteI know, Owen. I do try to clean up this place but there are times...
ReplyDeleteCleaning house and becoming an echo-chamber is a fine line.
ReplyDeleteTrump is truly bizarre but the end product of corporatism and hyper-partisanship run amok.
Apart from a few, I see no politician trying to get back to some kind of normalcy. McCain is part of the problem. Humans are too selfish for any real change. That is why I see years of pain before a brave and bad new future.
Trumplethinskin just fired another senior adviser. Trump's already way behind on filling appointments because anyone with any sense doesn't want to work with him. Another firing's going to make filling appointed positions even more difficult, and the government's likely to continue running on autopilot under senior bureaucrats.

It's true that Trump lies routinely, and seems likely true that he even has difficulty telling the difference. And I'm sure if he can get away with it, he'd love to pull an Erdogan and take control of the press, and that would be pretty damned scary.
ReplyDeleteBut his calling the American press a bunch of liars is certainly NOT his biggest lie. To the contrary, it's another of those times when he happens to stumble on the truth. How have the press reported on Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen? How did they report on the financial crisis? How do they report on the US intelligence community? How do they report on predatory billionaires, "free trade" agreements, Israel, medical care, you name it? Mendaciously, that's how.
For as long as nobody actually wins, it's great watching Trump duke it out with the press owned by his fellow billionaires.
It was Sam Clemens who wrote that a man who did not read a newspaper was uninformed while the man who did was misinformed.
