Wow. Is This the Trump Factor?

The Dems took the governor's mansion in Virginia and New Jersey tonight. This comes on the same day that the French president's office confirmed Trump is not on the guest list for the December climate conference in Paris.

America's narcissist in chief appears to be getting his ass handed to him from all sides. Fortunately there's plenty to go around.

The Mango Mussolini may be getting out onto the thin ice. With word coming out that the Republicans' tax reform will raise taxes overall on the middle class, not cut them, and that the 1 per cent will pocket most of the savings, upwards of 80 per cent, those Repugs must be getting cold feet given that the mid-terms are just one year off.

I'm sure there'll be a lot of Republicans fervently testing the winds in the coming weeks.  With his personal numbers in the toilet, Mueller closing in and voters turning toward the Dems, Trump will be testing the resolve of Congressional Republicans.

  1. I remember August 2001, when Dubya was being written off as a feckless fratboy who'd been illegitimately installed by the Republican majority on the Supreme Court. Then as he was reading about goats to some school kids, the Saudis took down a few towers in NY and whacked the Pentagon. And suddenly the upper class screwup who'd ignored the FBI's warnings became a respected war president - at least according to the national media.

Trump's trigger finger's gotta be getting pretty itchy by now. Looks to me like the Saudis and the Israelis are looking to take another run at Lebanon. I bet they'll want Uncle Sam to do the fighting and Trump will be happy to oblige.

  2. You could be right, Cap. War as distraction. The Saudis are on a roll, aligned with Israel and the US. Russia and China may be on the verge of aligning with Tehran. Starts to sound like the first world war, doesn't it.

I just gave myself a jolt. 10 posts today, all of them heartfelt. Sometimes I think I should stop this. I've come to the point of writing not because I want to but because somebody must gather up this information and pass it along.

Not sure where this is going.

And so you should; you have the skills, use them.

With a huge percentage of the population remaining willfully ignorant it's an uphill climb to at least make people think for themselves.

  4. "Willfully Ignorant" sums it up rather nicely TB. Politics and religion were the topics of choice at our family dinners while I was growing up. From the time I was age 4 until WW2 was over, we didn't see any men in the small town I grew up in - they were all wearing uniforms far away from home defending our democracy, and many of my friends' fathers did not come back!as well as many of our single uncles who never had the privilege of seeing their 25th birthday.

So many of our population see no reason to even vote (and have the flimsiest of reasons) and don't seem to recognize that voracious politicians and all the upcoming wannabes know the value in NOT having all these folks go to the polls. Yup, climate change is just a myth and erosion of a democratic society is simply paranoia.

Keep up the great work, Mound. Many of us are relying on you.
