Has Trump Gone "Full Bunker"?

Things aren't going well for the very stable genius, el Presidente Donaldo Trump.
Not well at all.

Son in law Jared has lost his top secret security clearance which means he'll have to bring peace to the Middle East with one hand tied firmly behind his back. Worse still, there are 29 other top White House personnel who have also had their top secret clearances downgraded. That's 30 in all. That's a lot. Some of them may be just administrative staffers but there's bound to be a few players in a cohort that size.

Then there are dark clouds on the horizon -  the Mueller investigation with Manafort aide, Rick Gates, cutting a plea bargain deal. It's even rumoured that all or most of the charges against him may be dropped which suggests that's one very cooperative witness giving blue ribbon evidence against people whose loyalty Trump desperately needs.

Trump is once again barking mad at his very own attorney-general, Jeff Beauregard Sessions. Once again, Trump stops short of firing Sessions and Sessions stops short of resigning. There's a back story there that may some day come out.

And there's the resignation of Trump's loyal handmaiden, Hope Hicks. She's had at least one round of talks with Mueller's investigators and spent a gruelling 9 hours being questioned by the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday which has to be an ordeal for a 29-year old neophyte. Hicks told the committee that she sometimes dropped the odd "white lie" on behalf of the White House and her boss.

Word is that Trump was furious about the "white lie" admission and took Hicks on a guided tour of the presidential woodshed on her return which may have been the last straw for the former model turned communications director.

Then on Wednesday Trump fired a rocket up the ass of congressional Republicans when he reversed his former stance and demanded some sort of real gun control legislation. It's said they could hear the sound of Republican sphincters snapping shut all the way to Capitol Hill. The Official Sponsor of the Republican Party, the National Rifle Association, apparently suffered a pulmonary misfire. Blood was seen to pour from Wayne LaPierre's eye sockets.

There's a haunted look on the face of the perpetually sleep deprived Mango Mussolini. Reliable sources claim he's taken to keeping a shotgun beneath his bed to deal with the pack of wolves he hears late at night circling in the Rose Garden. Putin no longer takes his pre-dawn calls. Jared's high school acne is back and Ivanka was caught carrying a Paraguayan passport in the name of Delores Drumpf.

Hard times in the bunker. What comes next?

  1. What comes next? Maybe Mueller adds federal witness tampering to the list of charges being investigated?

According to American attorney Seth Abramson, if you know an employee who you have the power to fire or punish is a witness in a pending criminal investigation—and you angrily berate them for giving truthful testimony in a mid-probe interview with the intent to change their future testimony—it's a CRIME.

  2. Do you think that's going to stop a veteran money-launderer?

  3. Of course not! And neither will a GOP-controlled Congress even if Mueller comes to them with an iron-clad case for impeachment. But it's interesting to watch the intelligence community use leaks to pick off Trump's psychological and emotional supports one by one.

Who's next? What's the status of Miller's security clearance? What about Ivanka's now that hubby's been shorn of his top secret clearance? What have been Uday and Qusay up to lately? Drip, drip, drip...

  4. That would be truly Machiavellian, Cap. Imagine a scheme to " pick off Trump's psychological and emotional supports one by one." I've often wondered how close Trump is to the edge of mental collapse. 25th Amendment, anyone?

  6. As you posted on Monday, rumour has it that Gen. McMaster's been ordered to commit seppuku. You posited that John "the Walrus" Bolton would be about as low as Trump could go in replacing him. Apparently, however, there is no bottom to the Trump swamp, and the front runner for new National Security Advisor is current FoMoCo VP Stephen E. Biegun.

You might well ask, "Who the hell is he?" From Ford's website bio:

From 1992 to 1994, Mr. Biegun served in Moscow, Russia as the Resident Director in the Russian Federation for the International Republican Institute, a democracy-building organization established under the National Endowment for Democracy.

Mr. Biegun, born 1963, graduated from the University of Michigan where he studied Political Science and Russian Language. He is a third generation Ford Motor Company employee. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Aspen Strategy Group, and is a member of the boards of the US-Russia Foundation for Economic Development and the Rule of Law, the Moscow School of Politics, Freedom House, the US-Russia Business Council, the US-ASEAN Business Council and FordSollers, Ford Motor Company’s joint venture operating in the Russia Federation.

But wait, there's more: "Prior to joining Ford, Mr. Biegun served as national security advisor to Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bill Frist." Frist, Frist where have I heard that name before? Ah, yes, wasn't he the a-hole who diagnosed Terri Schiavo from the Senate floor?

What are the odds that Vlad whispered the name Biegun into Don's ear?
