Oh Momma, Momma

I think it's best you read this for yourself. They're talking about evidence of a mega-drought four millennia ago that triggered a mass, societal collapse.

Who knew?

  1. Somewhere I read about a centuries long African drought that came close to wiping out early hominids. About 400 of then migrated to the very tip of south Africa where there was some water. They were able to collect enough mushrooms and abalone to survive.

There were other close calls where tiny evolutionary windows allowed survival . Hominids are both vulnerable to their environment and persistent.

  2. I won't repeat what I've written before. I'll simply agree with Mark Twain. We are, indeed, "the damn'd human race."
