And It Seems They're Delicious Too
There's no doubt that man has been waging a relentless war on nature. When, over just forty years, one species can cause the loss of half of all terrestrial life and half of all marine life on the planet it's pretty obvious who's winning.
Which is why this story out of South Africa is not remotely horrific. Five poachers snuck into Kruger National Park looking for rhino. Instead they ran into an elephant that quickly killed one of the poachers. His comrades fled taking the man's body that they left at the roadside for his family to claim the next day.
When the family arrived to claim the body all that was left was the man's skull and his pants. Park officials believe a pride of lions had a little chow down.
Three of the surviving poachers were tracked down and arrested.
.. haha .. I have a novel underway - 1/3rd to 1/4 roughed in..
ReplyDeleteAbout a tight cadre who set up retribution scenarios..
.. a 'fair fight' .. so to speak
First section is about a polar bear trophy poacher
who is rudely returned to the scene of his crime
.. lion & Dall Sheep poachers are in my short list
thinking hard re a 4th poached species
that gets retribution.. Orca maybe, rhino or moose
We didn't ask for this war; but if that's what the elephants want, they've got it. The lions will have to decide whose side they're on or stay out of it.
ReplyDeleteOne for the Elephants!

ReplyDeleteOkay, John, but, to be fair, we'll have to design rocket launchers for the critters to fire back.
