We're fortunate that Doug and his advisers are so unfamiliar with the fascist playbook. He's unpopular because he jumped to the service, regulation and tax cuts without whipping up enough popular resentment and hatred toward unions and the Liberal party.
After only a year in office, Ford's playing defence, his slogan "for the people" rings hollow, and he's well on his way to following Wisconsin's Scott Walker into the annals of unpopular populist leaders.
