Some Texans claim that their state was founded on guns - the Alamo, cowboys, the legendary Texas Rangers.
And they're not going to let a few gun massacres get in their way, neeether.
After the El Paso massacre, Saturday's 7-dead, 20-wounded slaughter in Midland and Odessa looked a bit like minor-league mayhem. Hardly worth frettin' over and, goodgawdamn, no reason to interfere with Sunday's introduction of several new, relaxed gun laws.
The nearly dozen new laws, championed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, vastly expands where individuals can bring their guns—including school parking lots, foster homes, churches, and rental properties. One of the laws, inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, allows Texans to open and conceal carry during natural disasters. Another prevents homeowners associations from regulating gun ownership. And it’s not just guns. Texans will now be legally able to carry pointed keychains, clubs, and brass knuckles.
It's not clear why they overlooked hand grenades but maybe they're saving that for Christmas.

ReplyDeleteMore people are killed by hammers than assault rifles in the US.
They would be wise to keep their guns, too many people out there that think like you.
Anon 9:43, how many mass hammer attacks have you noticed? Any hammer killing 7-dead, 20-wounded as in the report above?
ReplyDeleteI don't see any connection between how one might assume the blog owner thinks and whatever wisdom there might be in keeping guns. Was one intended?
ReplyDeleteI am with Toby.. your premise is ludicrous 'anonymous' ..
ReplyDeleteI feel for your shame at looking truly stupid
@Annon 9.43.
ReplyDeleteThis message was brought to you by the National Hammer Association.
Annon.
Should the USA and maybe by extension Canada have concealed hammer laws?
Will the laws differentiate between claw hammers, sledge hammers 'ouch' and 'cringe' hammer drills??
Legalising hammers is just the thin edge of the wedge!!
Shit where have we heard that before?
TB
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've discovered, America's murder instrument of choice is the handgun. Hammers, really? You Gringos are three times more likely to get knifed than to die from blunt object trauma (clubs, hammers, etc.). Then again, you're also far more likely to die from stupidity than hammers.

ReplyDeleteYou can almost hear the pages turning in the trollery playbook as anon 11:06 tries to follow the playbook after the laughable attempt on the previous post. Now it's "this damn librul is a gun grabber". Hopefully this troll will be replaced with a better one, who you know, has a little reading comprehension ability, and might read this blog and discover its owner is in fact a gun owner.
ReplyDeleteThe any gun for any one crowd seems to forget that there's always a bigger gun. They pretend we don't need gun regulation of any kind, or car regulation or any other kind of regulation. Yes, if they buy a Hummer and it is a lemon, just go and shoot the dealer if they don't give you a new one. The Wild West was great if you had the biggest gun and biggest army behind you, but of course "there's always a bigger fish" and sooner or later you become food.
Does anon 9:43 support nuclear de-regulation? No, not talking about no rules for power plants, I mean does anon think everyone should be able to buy those Davy Crocket nuclear grenades? A kiloton in your pocket to toss at whoever disses you, especially them damn libruls.
