Donald Trump is about to test the waters of his neatly stacked Supreme Court as his last resort to avoiding coughing up his tax returns.
He lost his attempt to block the Manhattan DA before the Federal Court. That led to an appeal to the
US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia circuit where he got tossed out on a 2-1 verdict.
His last hope rests with the US Supreme Court. If nothing else we'll see just how badly corrupted the highest court in America has become.
The dissent was from a former Clarence Thomas clerk that Trump appointed to fill Bart O'Kavanaugh's vacancy. I bet at least Thomas will rule against producing Trump's tax returns. If the rest of the GOP clowns follow suit, you can forget about Congress fulfilling any kind of oversight function on the executive.

We'll soon get a hint of things to come if the SCOTUS issues an emergency stay of the Second Circuit ruling.

Thanks, Cap. I was wondering about the dissent. Can you imagine clerking for Thomas? Verbal communication doesn't seem to be his thing. Telepathy, smoke signals?
ReplyDeleteI agree that we may just see the true face of the USSC.
BTW, do you still practice?
Yes, someday I hope to be proficient. ;-)

When the tax returns surface -- and they will -- things will become undeniably clear. And totally disgusting.

ReplyDeleteForget it, Cap. Countless of us have tried. None prevailed.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to speculate just what is in Trump's returns, Owen. However given the Herculean efforts he has made to avoid disclosure it's a safe bet those returns hold real problems for this thug.
When the tax returns surface...
ReplyDeleteNot too sure of that.
If Trump is hiding bankruptcy and still living the high life then so many others are also living the lie; GE for one.
Capitalism is so corrupt the wagons will circle in self preservation.
Trumps taxes are a symbol of our times.

ReplyDeleteI'm less than confident Trump's returns will ever see the light of day, TB. With the ghost of Roy Cohn as his guardian angel there's not much that sticks.
