He Said It Was a Hoax. Now Trump Suspends Travel to Europe

This is starting to border on the absurd. Trump, who was initially dismissive of the coronavirus threat - until he worked out how to blame it on Obama - has now suspended travel between Europe and the United States.
President Trump said he would be suspending all travel from Europe for the next 30 days starting Friday. The restrictions will not apply to Britain.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Mr. Trump called the coronavirus a “horrible infection” and said he was addressing the nation to talk about the “unprecedented response to the coronavirus outbreak.”
Mr. Trump also said health insurance companies had agreed to waive all co-payments for coronavirus treatments and extend insurance coverage to cover coronavirus treatments.

The rare evening address by Mr. Trump was his most public acknowledgment of the severity of the coronavirus crisis after repeatedly playing down its seriousness even as his own public health officials contradicted him.
That sound you hear is a bouncing ball, rattling inside this president's cranium.

In other comedic news, Sean Hannity of Fox News has also been labeling Covid 19 a hoax. It so happens that the average age of Sean's audience is 65 which puts them right in the crosshairs of the group most at risk from the contagion.

This is apparently how Italians now queue:

  1. So, travellers from Europe will be connecting through Heathrow. The UK would be on the list too if Trump didn't have a golf course in Scotland.

  2. Or they'll get a flight into Canada, Cap. Unless, of course, Trump then decides to seal our border. This guy is out of control. He has no clue how to deal with this much less clean up the mess he already created through defunding health agencies.

  3. Hannity's audience is, unfortunately large and influential.
Sadly they are also friggin self centred morons who are the root of the American exceptionalism illusion.
Whilst they remain alive and are able to vote there will be little change within the USA as there will be within much of the Western hemisphere.

  4. TB, I'm a sucker for these things but I see Biden's comeback as a rare sign of hope.

  5. Tom Hanks and wife said they have the virus, no shit, front page news.
Next it will be Harry and Meghan , whats her name!
Once the virus hits someone at Fox news the shit will really hit the fan!

  6. TB, wealth won't allow them as a class to escape the scourge of this contagion. Besides it will hurt them where they feel it most - in their net worth statements. They have paid richly to have their privilege defended and protected.

  7. "Biden's comeback as a rare sign of hope."

Let's see how he does on Sunday, one on one with Bernie.

OK, Sanders is toast but I can't see Biden lasting till the nomination and beyond. (Running Joe is a form of elder abuse.)

    Michelle Obama is looking good.

  8. No more dynasties, NPoV. It's been tried with disastrous results.

Meanwhile, a more immediate but equally grave concern. Will the Stones cancel their upcoming concert tour? They are, of course, in their mid to upper 70s.
