Alberta Tories Bought One Vote, Mine

It's enough to make your blood boil.   Alberta Conservatives are bent on meddling in British Columbia's upcoming provincial election.   They're running a campaign to raise Alberta donations to support Christy Clark and her faux Liberals.

Rod Love, the chief of staff to former premier Ralph Klein, and Allan Hallman, who ran Jim Dinning’s 2006 Alberta Conservative leadership campaign, asked Calgary’s business elite to pay $125 each to help out the Liberals — British Columbia Liberals, that is.

“If your company or organization does business in British Columbia (or perhaps if you or your family own property in B.C.), you should be concerned about the risks posed by the election of a New Democratic Party government in the upcoming election in May of 2013,” reads a fundraising letter issued by Hallman.
“Alberta’s fortunes are inextricably linked to those of British Columbia. While we may joke that the election of an NDP government in B.C. would be good for Alberta business, we all know that jokes aside, it would be bad for those doing business or owning property in B.C., and it would be bad for Canada.

“This is an important event — the ‘free enterprise coalition’ next door must be sustained. Please join us.”

But this surprising altruism begins to make sense when you realize B.C. Liberals are not really Liberals; they’re Conservatives in Liberal clothing. And for all of Clark’s sabre-rattling over Northern Gateway, she is still viewed as more business-friendly than the NDP, a party that has rejected the pipeline under any conditions.

Hallman and Love, who have both worked with the B.C. Liberals in the past, admit it’s a bit of an uphill fight to convince Alberta Conservatives to support Clark’s Liberals. But they say the B.C. Liberals are still better than the alternative.
They also see the fundraiser as a way to build bridges with that government.

We’ve got to educate Christy more on the benefits for Western Canada and Canada as a whole on the Gateway project,” Hallman says.

Could it be plainer?  They're trying to buy Christy Clark's support for the Northern Gateway pipeline and there are plenty of British Columbians who don't need much convincing to believe she can be bought.

Well the Tories have certainly bought my vote.   Only it won't be for Christy Clark.

  1. Well, my vote was never going to the LINOs anyway.

I must have snapped in the last 20 hours or something. I was as mad as you when I heard this on my way home from work yesterday. But now I think its just really funny.

I am going to start a campaign to educate Hallman and Love on the benefits of fresh air and water and arable farmland. And intact, complex food webs. (ie. wolves are a GOOD thing.)

  2. Harper and his Campbell/Clark BC Liberals, have fooled no-one in BC. We have known forever, the BC Liberals work for Harper.

Gordon Campbell has a serious drinking problem. He is Harper's favorite henchman. Harper rewarded him for doing his dirty work for him.

Boessenkool also has a drinking problem. He works for Harper and lobbies for Enbridge. Christy hired Boessenkool to work for her. Christy supports Harper, to the nth degree.

There was Harper's other degenerate Bruce Carson, who was arrested for influence peddling, none of us are fooled by, any of that corrupt crew.

During Harper's x-mas interview, he declared himself a, devout Christian. He said. He prays everyday for guidance. Perhaps Harper meant, "preys" everyday. Any how. Harper was Policy Chief, for his Northern Foundation Party of 1989. He was linked with Christian Fundamentalists and other dubious links.

We expect the so called BC Liberals to use, every dirty tactic in the book to stay in office.

Gordon Campbell twice lied and cheated, to win his elections as well. The HST wasn't on his radar. The BCR wasn't for sale either.

Citizens of BC, have very long memories. We forget nothing.
