A Picture Worth a Thousand Words -

He'll have a hard time backpedaling on his promise to kick start AmeriKa's coal mines back into production. That probably begins by eviscerating the Environmental Protection Agency, perhaps getting rid of it altogether. There are plenty of industries that would like that.

Climate scientists look at AmeriKa's president-elect and what they see is a "disaster for the planet."

Kevin Trenberth, senior scientist at the US National Center for Atmospheric Research, added: “This is an unmitigated disaster for the planet.”

Trump has vowed to sweep away the climate framework painstakingly built over Barack Obama’s two terms. At risk is the Paris climate accord, which only came into force last week, and Obama’s linchpin emissions reduction policy, the Clean Power Plan.

At a pivotal moment when the planet’s nations have belatedly banded together to confront an existential threat, a political novice who calls global warming a “bullshit” Chinese-invented hoax is taking the helm at the world’s foremost superpower.

“Millions of Americans voted for a coal-loving climate denier willing to condemn people around the globe to poverty, famine and death from climate change,” said Benjamin Schreiber, climate director at Friends of the Earth US. “It seems undeniable that the United States will become a rogue state on climate change.”

Maybe not uniquely rogue. AmeriKa might find a companion, Kanada. Rona Ambrose has already used Trump's promises to attack Trudeau's feeble initiative for carbon pricing.

  1. Now I know how the clan felt when Obama was elected. I still think I'm on the Angels here, but I keep imagining forthcoming pro trump marches of white soccer moms marching side by side with Neo Nazis through the streets of middle America and it scares the shit out of me as both groups are heavily armed.

  3. Maybe we should burn as much coal as we can dig up and go back to leaded gas and just get the whole fiasco over with faster.

  4. Well, look on the bright side. Had Hillary won it would have been boring as hell, save for the internecine warfare between the White House and Congressional Republicans.

Now Trump has declared war on China, Mexico, the Middle East, Europe, the environment and mankind. There'll be plenty of enemies, some from within his own party, out to get him and he'll have to be looking over his shoulder most of the time.

  6. Somehow, I don't think any of us is totally innocent in this whole mess. After all, we are one species, and clearly we seem to be in stationary mode on the evolutionary scale vis-a-vis our egos, which seem to refuse to subject themselves to any externally-imposed constraints.

  8. .. whatever shocking idiocy the Donald forgets to attempt, we can count on his brainless trust to dredge it up.. Thus The Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan, Donald Jr vacant fugs will get it up there for consummation.. Its a 4 year run for the rapture.. with control of House, Senate, & Commander in Chief ..

On the plus side.. perhaps Mainstream Media will actually shine a light on these political scumbag cockroaches as they try to jam every single political, partisan evangel pig trough barf bucket list item down the throats of North Americans and as much as possible, South America as well. Thes are hardly enightened folk.. this is the squalid group that includes diehard gssbsgs like Sean Hannity & if its possible to imagine - even worse - jackass asshats like Michael Savage. These are the toxic freaks that so fascinate the likes of Stephen Harper, Jason Kenney, Rona Ambrose, Rob Anders et al.. freako losers & killers of Environment, Ecosystems & Species..
