Pompeo - Screw You, We're Not Leaving

Trump secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, has served notice on the government of Iraq - 'we don't care what you say, we're staying.'

The State Department on Friday rebuffed the Iraqi government’s request to begin discussions on pulling out troops, saying that any American officials going to Baghdad during a state of heightened tensions would not discuss a “troop withdrawal,” as the Iraqi prime minister had requested. Instead, discussions would be about the “appropriate force posture in the Middle East.”
The statement from Washington was a direct rebuttal to Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi of Iraq, and was certain to add to the friction between the two nations.
The prime minister said earlier on Friday that he had asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to send a delegation from the United States to discuss steps for the withdrawal of the approximately 5,200 American troops from his country, in the aftermath of a deadly American military strike ordered by President Trump that many Iraqis say violated their country’s sovereignty.
So much for the illusion of Iraqi sovereignty. That was all a pretence. Iraq remains an occupied land, its government's wishes subject to American veto.

just another e.g. of how arrogant and stupid the americans are. How to puch Iraq into the hands and control of Iran. eventually Iran and/or its proxies will start attacking the Americans in Iraq to get them to leave the country. The americans can bet the Kurds will not be there to assist them in any manner.

It is hoped Canada pulls out before any of our soldiers are killed. Other countries might want to do the same.

The U.S.A. needs to go home. "Yankee go home" that was a phrase we used to hear.

I am going to take a guess that there are three to four times this amount of "contractors" aka mercenaries .
Should we have sympathy for those that choose to fight or kill for profit?
I think not.

O my, what a surprise.
The information dilutes a few years ago.
Nevertheless it's significant.

We have privatised war and conquest.

It's much like going back to Elizabeth the first??
How goes it Walter Raleigh?

Don't forget, we now have Cap'n "we should take the oil" Trump at the helm. Just a couple of days ago he said America wouldn't consider leaving until Iraq paid money he thinks they owe the US.

This goes along with his vague pronouncements about how US forces are still in Syria to safeguard "our oil."

Who knows with a guy this unhinged?

who knew this guy was "this unhinged". a whole hell of a lot of us. He is like the child who believes what ever he sees is his. You do remember that toddler stage where children see things and go, "mine, mine, mine". trumps at he same stage except they made him the Pres. of the U.S.A. and then gave him the codes to the nuclear weapons and an army of real people to play solider with.

Juan Cole, over at his Blog, Informed Comments, which may be of interested. Its titled, the times the U.S.A. gave support to Suleimani. Suleimani simply was the "most fun" target trump could think of in short order and believed given Israel had thought of murdering him, they would at least support him. Not so much. Israel isn't stupid.

Its always about the money and the oil with the americans. Even as far back as Vietnam, it was the oil. Back during the Vietnam war, Time Magazine did an article on how much oil they believed to be off the coast of Vietnam. they believed it would be similar to the Continenta8al Shelf off of North America.

Western oil companies have contracts to pump most of Iraqs oil.

The PNAC produced a paper stating that the USA should have permenant pressence in the gulf so as to secure oil supplies.

Shale oil has given the USA oil independence but it is not too profitable and will not last forever.
