California Can't Catch a Break

There's a bad moon rising for California. Reeling from a resurgence of Covid-19 infections the state ran headfirst into an outbreak of wildfires that have now beset Oregon and Washington.

Now we have another problem - La Nina has reared her ugly head. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency, NOAA, has a graphic depicting what La Nina brings.

For California and Oregon it usually means a dry winter, just what that region doesn't need. The NOAA shows a band of wet conditions for the Pacific Northwest but Environment Canada thinks BC will have a warmer than normal winter with reduced snow accumulations on coastal mountain ranges. We had a pretty cool and wet summer up to mid-July. I'd be happy to see it back soon.
