Wildfire smoke from the Oregon and Washington forest conflagrations is beginning to head east. The 48 hour outlook from Firesmoke.ca shows Calgary getting hard hit. The smoke could spread to the lakehead by Tuesday.

From the video, it looks like some Americans are starting to wear masks. The virus couldn't do it but maybe the smoke will.
ReplyDeleteThe video makes a good point. People don't take the climate very seriously unless they are traumatically affected by it. Learning from examples isn't happening. Scientists have been predicting chaos for more than 50 years but only a few of us have paid even the slightest attention.
Some people make things happen. Some people watch what is happening. The rest wonder what happened.
Sue the Americans for refusing to control Climate Change and harassment of contaminating Canadian air.

ReplyDeleteEven I had difficulty when the science types warned we would be tested with a cascade of emergencies and here we have it - a pandemic, brutal climate impacts, social breakdown - and no good outcomes on the horizon.
Just a side note, we can't see across Okanagan lake today due to the smoke.
