A Flawed Trial? Of Course.

< Saddam Hussein did not really get a fair trial because, in a case such as his, there is no such thing. The trial(s) of Saddam Hussein achieve one key goal - to place on record a catalogue of his evil, of his crimes. The result was a foregone conclusion.

The reality is that butchery of the scope committed by Saddam makes what we would ordinarily consider a fair trial a virtual impossibility. That, of course, is Saddam's doing.

No question this is "victor's justice" but that's the way the world turns. There are others, notably Bush and Blair who ought to be in the docket for launching their war of choice which was itself a war crime. Victors don't put themselves on trial and there's no one else who can. Sad Man is going to get what he deserves but that's what befalls losers.
