Harper Government Onside With Mubarak Regime

The Harper government says it supports Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's plan to step down in September.  Lawrence "Loose" Cannon said his government is concerned that a democratic Egyptian government might break its peace treaty with Israel.

There it is.  It's not about Egypt or the Egyptian people, it's all about Israel.  As the Globe & Mail described it rather dryly,   "The comments appear to set the Canada at odds with the U.S. and several other Western countries that have sought to persuade Mr. Mubarak to step down sooner."

Yeah well those other countries were probably looking at this from Egypt's not Israel's perspective.

"The only democracy in the Middle East" prefers to keep it that way. They would prefer a dictator they can do deals with in Egypt, as would the US and Canada.

How many Mossad agents provocateur are among the pro-government demonstrators?

Between twenty and one hundred is my guess.

It's truly pathetic, isn't it? Even John McCain is calling for Mubarak to pack his bags and di di mau out of Cairo.

I figure that shrewed bastard got out his slide rule and figured that it didn't matter what Canada said. The political opportunity rested in courting the Jewish vote and supporting Mubarak was the way to get it.

I read Harpers’ position in the Globe this morning and while I’m not surprised I’m nonetheless disgusted and embarrassed. Carol McNeil on the CBC echoed this position the other day. Who needs Sun TV when we have the CBC? It’s the same thing with better mood music.

I don't see this at Harper trying to court the Jewish vote in Canada, its less than 1%. There are far more Muslims in Canada than those of the Jewish faith.

I suppose you're right Gordie. I forgot that he's also courting the Evango-nutjobs, the Rapture Freaks. That bumps up those numbers.
