The Global Warming Debate - Science Pushes Back

The stock in trade of global warming Denialists is to circulate long lists of impressive-sounding characters who attack the science as a hoax. The Denialists know their lists never withstand scrutiny but that's not important because the gullible dupes they want to reach don't question that sort of thing anyway.

The Denialists have made every effort to derail the climate change effort by conning up a few, cherry picked e-mails, presenting them out of context, and calling the whole, sorry business "climategate."

In Britain, science is striking back. The Associated Press reports that over 1,700 British scientists have signed a forceful letter that asserts that climate change is unquestionably happening and is indeed man-made:

"We, members of the U.K. science community, have the utmost confidence in the observational evidence for global warming and the scientific basis for concluding that it is due primarily to human activities. The evidence and the science are deep and extensive," the statement posted to the Met Office Web site said.

"They come from decades of painstaking and meticulous research, by many thousands of scientists across the world who adhere to the highest levels of professional integrity."
