Harpo Passes Judgment on China

What a pompous ass. The Globe & Mail said it best: "Prime Minister Stephen Harper warned China Friday to remain on good behaviour because the coming Olympics will put the nation under massive scrutiny."

China's leadership was reported to be reeling like frightened minions from Harper's scathing rebuke. It was said to be a tongue-lashing the likes of which the Chinese haven't endured since the "time before time."

Actually, the Chinese reacted as expected - they didn't. They've seen lard arsed pukes like Harpo come and go far too often to bother responding.

Don't ever think they haven't taken notice, they have. Living there just two months ago, in Huangdao, a satellite city of Qingdao, an area where there is a lot of development from foreign counties who were invited by the Chinese Government to assist China with such things as CO2 emission, Canada's flag flies high. It is the first flag you see when approaching this area. My part-time job was to teach Chinese businessmen western ettiquette. Invited out by the assistant to the Major of Huangdao one evening, he asked me, "Why does Canada not like China?" Harper is tarnishing Canada's reputation abroad.

Harper is entirely right to criticize the Chinese. The Liberals cared far too much about commerce and not enough about human rights or the environment. Given that China still executes the most prisoners every year and given the Chinese record on the environment, I would say he was right on the money.

Gee, the US executes a lot of prisoners and emits far more GHG than China although it has a fraction of the population. What do you want Harpo to do about that?
