According to the New York Times, George w. Bush has cut a deal with the European G8 group over climate change. The "deal" amounts to Bush agreeing to "seriously consider" the European proposal to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2050.
This is heralded as a great compromise. Shrub still has indicated he has no time for mandatory caps. I wonder what else Bush will be "seriously considering" in the year and a half remaining in his term?
This deal has all the makings of a dark farce.

Saying he'd only consider a target for 2050 is a joke. It's a sick joke actually. It has about as much meaning as me saying I plan on going to the moon in 2050. It will be 2049, I'll say, "oh crap, forgot to prepare to go to the moon on my 70th birthday," and it just won't happen. Never mind that Bush will [hopefully] be long dead by then, and we know he doesn't care about the future or the burden he's put on younger generations.
