There Really Is a "Hole In the Bottom Of the Sea"

It's not so much a hole as a tear in the 600 mile long Juan de Fuca Plate and, scientists conclude, it could mark the end of the tectonic plate that the people of the Pacific Northwest fear so much.

If the subduction plate goes that means that the mega-quake threat goes with it, right? Not so much, apparently. As I eagerly devoured the report I came to the punchline, right at the end. Juan de Fuca's days may be numbered but the number is a few million years off.
