I Like Ike

He warned us about the emergent military-industrial complex. We didn't listen.

Dwight D. Eisenhower also warned his fellow Americans of what today masquerades as his own Republican Party when he said,

“If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.”

Ike's warning foresaw today's Republican movement that has hammered American democracy with first political capture, then regulatory capture, and now, under Trump, executive capture. This is the America I wrote of in a recent post,k "Attacked from Within, Attacked from Without."

BTW, the Eisenhower quote comes from a site named Verrit. It calls itself "media for the 65.8 million" a reference to the number of Americans who voted for Hillary Clinton.

"political capture, then regulatory capture" came during tenures of both Democrats and Republicans. As usual, follow the money and benefactor(s), home and abroad.

I agree, Anon, but remember how this has worked. ALEC has been primarily targeting Republicans. The big money benefactors - Koch, Coors, Adelman, etc. - fund primarily Republicans, not Democrats. There's not an equivalency here. Contrast the Obama administration with either the Bush/Cheney or Trump administrations and you will see the capture-friendly difference and it's glaring.

We disagree, Mound regarding the extend of capture.
BOTH Democrats and republicans are essentially captured to the same extend. O'bomba followed the script written for him with only one notable exception, blocking the war with Iran.
Speaking of benefators of the big money brings one to my mind: Hillary.
