Canadian Navy Gets Global Warming Warships

The ships will be able to patrol the length of the North-West passage during the months when their presence is needed. - Stephen Harper

With those words, our furious leader Steve Harper announced Canada will soon have its first warships for an ice-free Arctic Ocean. Then again, if Canada isn't going to do anything serious about global warming - and we're not - we might as well get a fleet of warships that recognizes the fact.

We'll need those ships as one side effect of global warming will be to bring renewed challenges to Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic, likely from our friends to the south as much as any country. So it's hard to really criticize this development just as it's really sad to acknowledge that.
