U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has put to rest the notion that the release by WikiLeaks of some 70,000 documents concerning Afghanistan has endangered national security. The Americans have scrutinized the materials. The only concern is that the release of names of Afhgans working for or assisting allied forces could place those individuals and their families in jeopardy of retaliation from the Talibs.
At least the security canard has finally been put to rest.
