It drew wide media coverage a few days ago when 5,000 dead blackbirds dropped onto Beebe, Arkansas. Around the same time, 80,000 drum fish went belly up in the nearby Arkansas River.
Word is out today that 500 red-wing blackbirds fell dead along a rural road in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. And in Falkopeing, Sweden, dozens of dead jackdaws fell into a residential street.
I'm guessing that these limited, mass kill-offs happen more often than the media lets on but hundreds of birds falling on one street or one rural road? To me that begs some explanation.
