"She"? I'm trying to remember that fellow's name. A former USAF major who flew over 200 missions in Vietnam. A missile got him near the North Vietnamese border but he couldn't get out and so had to crash land his jet into jungle near the Cambodian border. He was badly burned but got out and was rescued by US special forces. It took a couple of years but he survived his burns and other injuries and went back to fighters before moving on to the SR-71. The burns left him disfigured but that didn't prevent him from having a great flying career.
